Finally, after a long summer of Mark having some of his toughest rotations, he had a week off! We started the week in Green Lake, after a miserable late-night trip from Wheaton. The plan was that we'd leave at the kids' bedtime and they'd sleep for the trip. FAIL. After sleeping for about 20 minutes, Ari screamed all the way to Stoughton, with Dane under his blanket, saying, "Ari, be quiet! Me trying to sleep!" We were both frayed by the time we arrived, but put them both down for bed and hit the hay ourselves. That was about when Ari started her drinking strike, so our nights weren't great, but the days were beautiful, filled with swimming, time with the fam (including Stevie, Grandma and cousin Dave, all the way from NY) and a few times with just Mark and I. The weather was beautiful, and the lake was the warmest it's ever felt. Dane and Ari both loved being in the water, which was awesome. Dane got lots of quality time with everyone who adores him, and Ari got to know everyone a little better. We had a small accident with the camera, ie Dane bounced it off the dock and into the lake, but that led to us getting a new one, which is way nicer...really, I didn't pay him to do it, Mark!
