Dane's Big Two!

Dane is officially two! We can hardly believe it, although between his skyrocketing vocab and grammar abilities and his physical development, he sometimes seems about 5. He has developed a large crush on his "happy, happy Aria", and asks for her first thing in the morning. He's becoming much more affectionate, just giving us hugs and kisses for no reason. He's also much more fond of snuggling on the couch, until he's distracted by something, that is. He loves singing new songs, like "saw, saw, saw, pound, pound, pound", especially if they have accompanying hand motions. His current favorite thing to do is play and explore outside. Thank God the weather's starting to warm up! Dane is hilarious. He's so sweet and is starting to sing, dance and talk to himself. It's so cool to see he's got his own inner life. We are trying to figure out ways to harness his massive energy and enthusiasm into positive things, as he's also beginning to have more "temper tantrums". He loves being with people; our daily time at the gym is one of his favorite things, as he gets to be in a room with around 20 other little kids his age. He has no fear, which from my perspective as a very shy kid, is amazing! We took him to Gail's school the week we were home and he visited a kindergarten gym class. We just stood there as he ran right into the action and started asking the other kids to use their equipment. What a gift from God! We hope we can continue to cultivate that spirit of independence and leadership that he seems to have. Dane, we love you and look forward to many more birthdays, watching you grow and mature.
Using his hat as a beak. Man, he hated that thing!
