On September 19th, three weeks before his due date, Knox Williams decided it was time to join the family. He was 20.5 inches long, 8lbs 1oz, born at 4:59 am. Mark and I had gotten the kids down easily and were sitting on the couch eating and watching TV when I realized that my contractions were consistently about 3 minutes apart. Fortunately, Mark was able to call his mom, who came over right away to stay with the older two kiddos. We packed up, I showered quickly, and out we went to Meriter Hospital. Everything went smoothly and although I got an epidural, it failed right about the time I needed to start pushing, so rather than replace the epidural, we decided to just push. In about 10 minutes, we had Knox! It was the most painful thing I've ever done, but the joy I experienced the first time I got to hold him was unlike anything else. He is a perfectly healthy little man, with dark hair like daddy, and a very calm demeanor so far. He looks to us like he has the same nose and mouth as Dane, but he also looks a ton like my newborn photos, so we'll see.
This time around, I feel like I'm much calmer about having a newborn, which has allowed me to enjoy some time cuddling him and being reminded how soft and fun a brand new baby is. While we're definitely looking forward to moving past the sleepless stage that we're in now, we're also enjoying having him around and love seeing how the other two react to him. Dane is super sweet, and loves just nuzzling his hair and talking to him. Aria is a little less brave, but no less careful. Both have been extremely helpful in doing little things for him like getting diapers or wipes when I ask. It's added a fun dimension to our family life.
We are so blessed to have our little man here safely, and are SO excited to continue to get to know him and find out who he will be!
